Got a screenplay inside you waiting to be put on the silver screen?

Screenwriting Workshop: A Basic Introduction for Beginners with a Story or a Dream

Your favorite movies all started with a story idea put into a screenplay. Do you have ideas you think could become the next critically acclaimed classic or big blockbuster? The first step in such a dream is to transform those ideas into a screenplay that works.

Producers and agents receive thousands of screenplays each month. They dont have time to read all of them. Even if they did, they still wouldnt. Their readersusually a recent college English Lit grad trying to break into the industryvalue their sanity too much to bother going past the first page if you dont have a movie-friendly story or dont know the rules for proper screenplay formatting.

This three-hour workshop for beginning and novice screenwriters introduces you to the strange and adventurous world of American screenwriting. Paul Peditto, an accomplished playwright, film director and screenwriting coach will take you through an intensive review of screenwriting forms, structure, style and, most importantly, stand-above-the-masses stories. He then concludes with an overview of the business end of screenwriting, from query letters and treatments to screenwriting contests and producing your own films.

Seats are limited, and we ask that you please arrive on time and obtain your tickets early.

9:00 Basic Introduction to Screenplay Structure, Format & How to Write a Complete Script

The old screenwriting adage goes if you want respect, write a play; if you want the swimming pool with goldfish, write screenplays. Screenplays are nothing like essays, novels or even theatre scripts. Theyre not about the artist; theyre about the story, the image and the audience.

The opening workshop segment introduces the craft of screenwriting, along with a peek at where the art of screenwriting emerges:

?      Basic structure of screenplays

?      Screenwriting format for working writers

?      Outlining to a complete, solid story

?      Visual storytelling: the basics

?      How film dialogue imitates real life

?      Giving your character life

11:00 Introduction to the Screenwriting Business

Writing the screenplay is only the first step in the journey to turn your idea into a film.  The workshops second half introduces the business end of screenwriting, when your screenplay is driven toward a finished product.

?      Online resources to devour

?      Copyrighting your work

?      Screenwriting festivals

?      Query letters and treatments

?      Selling your screenplay to agents and producers

?      Intro to producing your own shorts and features
